Welcome

I am a painter living and working in London. I was born on Merseyside in 1959 and went to Newcastle University, where I gained a B.A.(Hons) in Fine Art in 1981. My work is essentially abstract and involves the use of a variety of materials, including paint, graphite and plaster. I create textured surfaces, adding or taking away elements until a point of resolution is reached. I work intuitively, allowing an interplay between the conscious and the unconscious, the material and the metaphysical. I take inspiration from a diverse range of sources, including derelict buildings, patterns in landscape, poetry, classical music and jazz.
